Currently, I have begun it as a hidden post right here on the Fiddly Piddly board. Stay tuned!nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Thu, 14 Jan 2016 20:12:56 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p635,from=rss#post635https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p635,from=rss#post635I hope to get my car, the Mitsubishi Gallant, up and running by the third or fourth week of September. It has been one year and two or three months that I have gone without it.nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Fri, 14 Aug 2015 22:33:12 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p633,from=rss#post633https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p633,from=rss#post633So, yes I put in my two-week notice at the place where the "last straw" landed on my back. I am on vacation this week. I have had two interviews too. I have only put in three applications so far... I should report back on further developments.nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Sun, 09 Aug 2015 10:02:59 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p629,from=rss#post629https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p629,from=rss#post629So.... I think my place of employment has just added "the last straw" on my back today -- you know the one, the straw that broke the camel's back! I have been employed there for about eight and one-half years, the longest I have been employed anywhere. Of course, I MUST make sure I have another comparable source of income first, but I am very convinced that I should leave soon. Perhaps immediately after I take my third and final week of paid vacation this year. All the more reason to put in for my vacation ASAP! What will I do? I do not know... Perhaps I can drive a cargo van across country for my dad. Fond are my memories of driving for a living. Sure, traffic and weather can make it not so enjoyable, but I think I could handle that much better than the unreasonable expectations of my bosses at my current job.nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Wed, 08 Jul 2015 22:40:47 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p628,from=rss#post628https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p628,from=rss#post628I am on vacation again! I get three weeks a year now -- the second year in a row. This is the most paid time off I have ever had at any job. If I reach the 15 years of service mark, I will get FOUR weeks of paid vacation.nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Mon, 18 May 2015 09:41:28 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p626,from=rss#post626https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p626,from=rss#post626Wow! We are still paying for that car AND the repair. I am currently without a car -- going on a year of that nonsense soon! I have gotten more into my Warhammer Quest gaming. I was in a major slump there for a while, but have bounced back a little. My place of employment has been giving me the same shift to work five days in a row for several weeks now -- soon to be two months in a row! This is better than before, when they would schedule me back and forth between mornings and evenings.nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Mon, 30 Mar 2015 11:47:17 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p462,from=rss#post462https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p462,from=rss#post462Things went from bad to worse. Still no air conditioning at home... Then my wife's "new" car broke down -- starter out most likely. Now, we got "90 days same as cash" to cover the repair. It is just a matter of when the shop can get to it... nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Tue, 17 Jun 2014 13:52:16 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p392,from=rss#post392https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p392,from=rss#post392My car is still down, but at least we have the "new" car. Today, I shall ride the bus to work, since my wife must be at work from now until my time to start. Two more days of work, including today, and then I get to play for one whole week of vacation! I will likely go out of town for most of one day and part of another, but I should have quite a bit of time to catch up on my online gaming and Runboard-ing. nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Thu, 08 May 2014 09:20:36 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p350,from=rss#post350https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p350,from=rss#post350 Things are looking up!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Susa)Mon, 21 Apr 2014 16:55:50 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p349,from=rss#post349https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p349,from=rss#post349Yippee! We got the "new" car today! The salesman at the dealership let my wife drive HIS car to my place of employment so that I could sign the papers. My car will not get looked at until Wednesday. At least I got it to the shop.nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Mon, 21 Apr 2014 16:52:14 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p346,from=rss#post346https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p346,from=rss#post346Oh, wow! What a nightmare. I sure hope that you can safely get your car to the car repair place and that your wife will be able to get your "new" car and pick you up at lunch time. What a tangled mess this is.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Susa)Sun, 20 Apr 2014 21:10:45 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p345,from=rss#post345https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p345,from=rss#post345Wife's car was "totaled" by someone installing some of the break parts backwards... Things were torn up badly. So, we ended up selling the car for a little more (about $200) than twice the cost of the labor ($70 to $80) involved to give us an estimate of over $1300 to repair the car! The car is going for a good cause -- to help teach students on how to repair/restore a car. So, down to one car, my wife drove me home after work Friday night with MY car, and it overheated! So, that car is grounded until it can get repaired -- hopefully early this week. Note: just adding coolant and water did NOT solve the problem. Saturday, I had my wife visit an auto dealership and work out the details -- while consulting with me by phone as needed -- for us to purchase a former police car! Someone at work told me that if people think I am driving a police car (when I am behind them) that they will slow down. I said, "Well, that is the opposite of what I will want them to do." Plan 1. Drive my overheating car to the shop on my way to work early Monday morning. Then walk the rest of the way (about 2 miles probably). Gotta be at work at 6:30 a.m. 2. Wife will grab a ride on the small city bus to go to her mother's apartment. Her mom will be loaning us the small down payment to finish the deal on the "police" car. 3. Then, hopefully, they will allow my wife to use the car to pick me up on my lunch hour so that I can sign the paperwork... Maybe not though, since the dealership's insurance has become more strict since the last time we purchased a car from them -- about seven years ago. 4. Let my wife use the "police" car to get to her work, while we await the estimate to repair my car. Oh boy! nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Sun, 20 Apr 2014 16:19:51 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p321,from=rss#post321https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p321,from=rss#post321quote:Susa wrote: Are you wanting to write stories, articles? I am good at Super Mario Brothers (original game) and I used to play chess. I would be glad to write various things. Articles and stories, and, of course, that best-selling novel that I have not yet written, are certainly options of interest to me. I tried to sign up with one online business that hires writers to write short articles -- mostly to encourage people to purchase whatever the article is about. They were supposed to pay more than others of the same type. However, they did not have any work for me, and/or there was a problem with my registration (technical difficulties). Finally, they kicked me out of the system. I might go back and try again, but writing purely for ads strikes me as very non-fulfilling. In the area of gaming, I hope to someday knock on the right door and get a chance to use my creative skills in game development. This is an area of fiddling and piddling that I think I would really enjoy getting paid to do! nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Fri, 11 Apr 2014 13:58:30 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p317,from=rss#post317https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p317,from=rss#post317OldWarrior....you definitely did the right thing. In other words, it seemed too shady for my conscience and too invasive into my personal financial business. It seemed too good to be true, which usually means that it is! So, whenever red flags go up, I run. _ _ _ _ The play testing gig is about to shift gears, but I have today and tomorrow to get in some more feedback. So, off to play test I go.nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Thu, 10 Apr 2014 11:16:53 +0000 Re: Where am I now?https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p248,from=rss#post248https://bfidpid.runboard.com/p248,from=rss#post248I hope you get that work at home job, too.
