Where am I now?

I am very busy with work, play testing a new game in development, and trying to get a work-at-home-online job going as well.

I hope to get something done on this board's graphics soon -- at least a little something to show that I am trying. emoticon

Hope you get that work at home job going. Hubby has a job that allows him to work at home, or from the RV...as long as he has internet and cell service. He's worked looking out at the Tetons, Yellowstone, Niagara...you name it! emoticon

I hope you get that work at home job, too.

I also have a work at home job, but it is in the music studio here. I also work at Runboard! Well, that is for my enjoyment.

Well, the work at home job did not feel right -- too much of a feeling that I was to be made into some company's "success story" and not enough of a clear-cut getting paid for what I would be doing. In other words, it seemed too shady for my conscience and too invasive into my personal financial business. It seemed too good to be true, which usually means that it is!

So, whenever red flags go up, I run. emoticon

_ _ _ _

The play testing gig is about to shift gears, but I have today and tomorrow to get in some more feedback. So, off to play test I go.

It sounds as though you did the right thing. I am sorry that this did not work out. I sure hope that you can find something that you can do from home.

What are your skills?

As a pastor could you do counseling from home that is not connected with the church?

Something to do with writing and/or game design seems the best way to go at this point, but I am open to more ideas.

Are you wanting to write stories, articles? I have a lady on my message board who writes articles for people and makes a living at it.

I am clueless when it comes to gaming. I am good at Super Mario Brothers (original game) and I used to play chess.

OldWarrior....you definitely did the right thing. When red flags go up or the hair on the back of my neck stand up...I get the heck out of dodge! emoticon

I would be glad to write various things. Articles and stories, and, of course, that best-selling novel that I have not yet written, are certainly options of interest to me.

I tried to sign up with one online business that hires writers to write short articles -- mostly to encourage people to purchase whatever the article is about. They were supposed to pay more than others of the same type. However, they did not have any work for me, and/or there was a problem with my registration (technical difficulties). Finally, they kicked me out of the system.

I might go back and try again, but writing purely for ads strikes me as very non-fulfilling.

In the area of gaming, I hope to someday knock on the right door and get a chance to use my creative skills in game development. This is an area of fiddling and piddling that I think I would really enjoy getting paid to do! emoticon

Re: Where am I now?

Wife's car was "totaled" by someone installing some of the break parts backwards... Things were torn up badly. So, we ended up selling the car for a little more (about $200) than twice the cost of the labor ($70 to $80) involved to give us an estimate of over $1300 to repair the car!

The car is going for a good cause -- to help teach students on how to repair/restore a car.

So, down to one car, my wife drove me home after work Friday night with MY car, and it overheated! So, that car is grounded until it can get repaired -- hopefully early this week. Note: just adding coolant and water did NOT solve the problem.

Saturday, I had my wife visit an auto dealership and work out the details -- while consulting with me by phone as needed -- for us to purchase a former police car!

Someone at work told me that if people think I am driving a police car (when I am behind them) that they will slow down. I said, "Well, that is the opposite of what I will want them to do."

Plan

1. Drive my overheating car to the shop on my way to work early Monday morning. Then walk the rest of the way (about 2 miles probably). Gotta be at work at 6:30 a.m.

2. Wife will grab a ride on the small city bus to go to her mother's apartment. Her mom will be loaning us the small down payment to finish the deal on the "police" car.

3. Then, hopefully, they will allow my wife to use the car to pick me up on my lunch hour so that I can sign the paperwork... Maybe not though, since the dealership's insurance has become more strict since the last time we purchased a car from them -- about seven years ago.

4. Let my wife use the "police" car to get to her work, while we await the estimate to repair my car.

Oh boy!
