How this Message Board Reflects Oldwarrior's Personality
I think the idea for this message board was born in the very heart of my being. The idea seems to have boiled to the surface of my mind over a period of time.
Much of my life I believe I have taken myself and a lot of others things more seriously than I should have, thus unnecessarily increasing my stress level and the potential for a nervous breakdown -- which, thankfully, I have never yet had.
But, in the last several years, I have been shifting my outlook and priorities to give myself a bit more breathing and laughing room. While I have always been fun-loving, I have in the past often not allowed this part of my nature to flourish as much as I probably should have.
To help the reader understand what I am saying, I will give you an example. While on the job, I sing, laugh, tell stories and jokes, and discuss all sorts of things NOT related to work, though sometimes it is job-related.
I am a very conscientious, person. So, I am careful to use moderation, and to do my best not to let such "extra curricular activities" interfere with my job performance; but, it really helps to reduce and/or prevent stress on the job.
Anyway, this really seems to work, both in the lack of stress and in getting through the less pleasant aspects of the job.
In another way, though, this board is a reflection of my creativity, tendency too experiment, and etc...
I really hope there are enough people out there that identity with some of these things that this board will become a much-visited site.

Re: How this Message Board Reflects Oldwarrior's Personality
It is good to have a fun place to experiment, try something new and succeed or fail, at the latest thing, it's not the end of the world. It's nice to have a play, and then if you don't like it, copy/delete and start over.
When I had Queeny's....I also had Queeny's Test...a separate site. Where I had the exact same skins, buttons, css, html...everything. And I'd play there with colors, form, etc until I got everything looking the way I wanted them to. And THEN I would transfer everything over to my "real" Queeny's that everyone saw. (After first saving EVERYTHING...css, html, custom language, header, footer...everything page by page in a Microsoft word doc.)
That way if I messed something up, I could re-add the stuff from the real one, deleting my tested one and start over.
OR...while leaving my real one for the holiday month or season, I was over at the test site working on a new skin set up. By saving each "Skin creation" in a document, then come say "Halloween", I could just copy/paste all the info back into the appropriate places, and whamm-o...instant halloween skin!
TEST SITES are a good play ground!

Re: How this Message Board Reflects Oldwarrior's Personality
I have done similar to what you suggest. In fact, whenever I decide to make any major changes, I usually do save backup copies of all the current css and html.
Using a test board is an excellent idea I utilize as well. I did that recently for this board, to decide whether or not to incorporate certain changes.
I have not yet experimented much with custom buttons or smileys, but I probably will at some point. I have especially been wanting to use an image for new posts on this board. I just have not come across that perfect image yet!

Re: How this Message Board Reflects Oldwarrior's Personality
You will find there are lots of us over at Runboard that are happy to help. Just shout if you need something. Most of us are board owners so we know how hard it is to keep one going. It takes time, dedication and a love of your board to keep one going.
You seem to have all that so you should be fine. I might suggest putting a link to your board in you siggy then go out and visit a few boards. Don't spam, but visit and you'll find some will stop in to check you out.

Re: How this Message Board Reflects Oldwarrior's Personality
Thanks for the advice.
I only realized a day or two ago that Justbec is a she! I think I assumed the opposite from a radio program I used to listen to -- the male host I think was Jim Beck.
