Learning Another Language?

So far, I am afraid that learning the Spanish language is more or less a once-in-a-while hobby of mine, but I do consider it one of my special projects.

I have been studying Spanish on my own on and off for several years now -- mostly off I am afraid.

Recently, I acquired what seems a very thorough iOS app for my iPad, which helps one to learn Spanish. It is Learn Spanish by Brainscape. After several hours -or more - of learning, I had only mastered something like one one-hundredth of one percent of the entire program.

I must have accidentally deleted the app, because I had to download it again just now to tell the name. Now, the app does not know where I left off. This is no big problem though, because it is designed for self-grading. The user tells the app how well each morsel of info was known to him or her: from "not all" up to" perfectly".

Re: Learning Another Language?

I really should train several languages. I've let Swedish and German go since school days.
And I did have a little introductory course of French back then, would be good to remember more of that then "My name is Kaunisto. I am Finnish. I don't speak good French."

And every now and then I've tried to figure out something about Japanese - video games and comics being my major hobbies - but not having done much with that lately, I'd be lucky to remember half of katakana now...

freelang.net has among other stuff downloadable free dictionaries. Bit limited vocabulary (though I haven't updated for years...) but I've found the program handy.
